About A1 Engineering

An engineer who picks up the phone.

A1 Engineering is a Dallas engineering firm led by Nick Burton, PE, working with builders, contractors and drafters since 2017.

Led by Nick Burton, PE

A1 Engineering is led by Nick Burton, a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 15 years in the field. Nick started A1 in 2017 in Dallas, and he works directly with the builders, contractors and drafters who send him plans.

When you call A1, you're talking to the engineer who reviews your set, answers the city's comments and puts his name on the work. There's no call center and no hand-off chain.

Licensed where you build

Nick is licensed as a Professional Engineer in four states. Work is only sealed by an engineer licensed in the project's state.

  • TXTexasTBPELS
  • FLFloridaFBPE
  • GAGeorgiaGA SOS PLB
  • NCNorth CarolinaNCBELS

Electrical engineering is Nick's discipline. Structural work, foundation letters and special inspections are handled by a licensed structural engineer in our network who is licensed in your project's state, so you still deal with one office and one point of contact.

Who we work with

  • Builders and general contractors who need a permit to go in clean, or need to get a rejected one moving again.
  • Drafters and designers who draw the set and need a PE to review and seal it.
  • Electrical contractors who need a stamped load calc before adding an EV charger, a heat pump or new service.
  • Owners and lenders who need an engineering letter or inspection to close out a job.

Where we work

Our office is at 12222 Merit Dr, Ste 130 in North Dallas. We work across Dallas-Fort Worth, in Florida (Orlando, Tampa and Miami), and in Georgia and North Carolina.

How we work

  • Every comment cites the code. Redlines come back with the section number, so your drafter knows exactly what to fix and why.
  • A turnaround before we start. You know when the set is coming back before any work begins.
  • You talk to the engineer. Questions go straight to the PE on your project.
