Send your plans to A1 Engineering. We review them, mark up every issue with the code section behind it, and seal the electrical engineering so your permit goes in clean. Serving Dallas-Fort Worth and Florida.

Most of our work comes from three kinds of people. Here's what each one usually needs from us.
Send the set and whatever the city sent back. We review it, redline every issue with the code section behind it, and seal the electrical so the resubmittal goes through.
Nick reviews your drafted set, sends redlines straight to you if anything needs fixing, then seals it once it's ready to submit.
Tell us what they're asking for and when you need it. We inspect, write it up and send a signed, sealed letter you can hand over.
Most builders call us when a job is stuck. Here's what that usually looks like, and what we do about it.
Electrical work is sealed by Nick Burton, PE. Structural work is sealed by a licensed structural engineer in our network, licensed in your project's state. You get a turnaround for every job before work starts.
We check your drawings against code before the city does. You get redlines back with the code section behind every comment.
Signed engineering letters for cities, inspectors and lenders, so a job doesn't sit waiting on paperwork.
Residential and commercial inspections with a written report you can hand to the inspector or the owner.
Our core discipline. Load calcs, panel schedules and stamped designs for homes, solar, EV and multi-family.
Your drafter or designer draws the set. Nick reviews it, sends redlines if anything needs fixing, and seals it once it's ready to submit.
We upload, track and answer corrections so the permit keeps moving, through to your Certificate of Occupancy.
Florida jobs get the same process as Texas: code-cited redlines, a sealed set, and a direct line to the engineer. We work to the Florida Building Code, and High-Velocity Hurricane Zone structural work in Miami-Dade and Broward goes through our licensed network.
No call center and no hand-off chain. The engineer who reviews your plans is the one you talk to.
Call with a question and you get the PE who's reviewing your set.
Redlines come back with the section number, so your drafter knows exactly what to fix and why.
Texas, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. One engineer for jobs across state lines.
Four steps. We call you back and tell you the turnaround before we start.

Adding an EV charger, a heat pump or a remodel? Run a quick check using the NEC method for existing homes. Then send it to us for the sealed version.
Simplified from the NEC 220.83 optional method for an existing dwelling unit. No new A/C or electric heat: all loads, existing A/C included, take the first 8 kVA at 100% and the rest at 40% (220.83(A)). Adding A/C or electric heat: that equipment counts at 100% and everything else uses the 8 kVA / 40% split (220.83(B)). Cooling is estimated at 1,700 VA per ton without nameplate data. With a year of utility peak-demand data, NEC 220.87 may give a better answer. This is a quick check, not a sealed calculation. Your code edition, your AHJ and actual nameplate ratings decide the real answer.

A1 Engineering is led by Nick Burton, a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 15 years in the field. He started A1 in 2017 and works directly with the builders, contractors and drafters who send him plans.
When you call A1, you're talking to the person who reviews your set, answers the city's comments and puts his name on the work.

Don't see yours? Call (214) 382-9584 and ask the engineer.
Both. Many permit offices accept digitally signed and sealed PDFs, which is the fastest option. If your city wants wet-stamped sets, tell us and we'll plan for it.
Nick Burton, PE is licensed in Texas, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Work is only sealed by an engineer licensed in the project's state. Ask us for license numbers for your permit file.
Electrical work is sealed by Nick. Structural work, foundation letters and special inspections are handled by a licensed structural engineer in our network who is licensed in your project's state. You still deal with one office and one point of contact.
The PDF plan set, any comments or correction notice from the city, the project address and your deadline. If you're not sure what the city wants, send what you have and we'll tell you.
Every job gets a turnaround before any work starts. Tell us your deadline when you send the plans, and ask if you need it rushed.
Yes. We send redlines straight to your drafter or designer, answer their questions, and review the corrected set before it's sealed.
It depends on the size of the set and what the city is asking for. Send us the plans and we'll give you a flat price before any work starts.
Most of our work is for builders and contractors, but we do help homeowners with engineering letters, inspections and load calcs.
Tell us what you're building and what the permit office needs. We'll call you back with next steps and a turnaround.
A1 Engineering is new to Google reviews. If we reviewed your plans, sealed a set or wrote you a letter, a few honest lines help the next builder find an engineer who picks up the phone. It takes about a minute.
